Locations from New Years Evil

Here are a few locations from the slasher film New Years Evil.

Just before two of the kills, the killer stops at Golden Arrow Liquor. The liquor store was located at (approx) 13231 Victory Blvd Van Nuys, CA

A Walgreens and a vacant lot are located on the grounds of the old Golden Arrow. However, the strip mall across the street still stands with new tenants:

Later, after crashing into a group of bikers the killer races past Dales Jr liquor store:
It is still located at 12500 Oxnard Street, North Hollywood, CA

After passing the liquor store he stops by the Van Nuys Drive In.

The drive in was located at 15040 Roscoe Boulevard, Van Nuys, CA 91343. A school occupies the space today.

The "My Name is Earl" motel

5 years ago I visited the motel from "My Name is Earl".

I arrived at the motel October 23, 2007 and I was stunned to find a camera crew setting up to shoot My Name Is Earl.

I drove by the motel a bunch of times and tried to sneak a few photos:

The next day I returned to find that the film crew was gone. Here are some photos I was able to take:

This first one shows the pool, which is often showcased in the show. I remember hearing on the DVD commentary track that they have to "muddy" the water in the pool with some dye so the pool looks extra dirty.

That doesn't explain the set of toilets next to the pool. I wonder if they ALWAYS have toilets by the pool. That would be rather convenient.

It is located at 8424 Sepulveda Boulevard, North Hills, Los Angeles, California.

The building with a hole in it from the opening of Miami Vice

I love the opening theme from Miami Vice! There is one thing in the title sequence that always stood out to me:

The girls in bikinis!

Oh yeah, and the building with a hole in it.

What kind of building is this? I need to know more!

I googled "miami building with hole" and quickly found the answer:
It's called The Atlantis and it is a condo complex.

You can easily see it from the street:

I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With

This 2006 Jeff Garlin film shot in several locations in Chicago.

The hot dog stand with the "pirate" is:

Budacki's Drive In
4739 North Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL

The ice cream shop where he meets Sarah Silverman's character was located at:
3731 N Clark, Chicago, IL

The ice cream shop is closed and it's now a Mexican restaurant.

The shot from the movie I really wanted to know existed was the spot where Garlin's character stopped to eat junk food multiple times in the film.

It appeared to be a quiet neighborhood where you could see the scoreboard from Wrigley Field. I wanted to see if it was a real spot of a faked location.

Sadly, I don't have a screenshot but the location does seem to exist right along this street:

The restaurant from Rocky Balboa

Here is a location that required absolutely no work to find.

In Rocky Balboa, Rocky owns a restaurant called Adrian's. The real place is the Victor Cafe in Philadelphia.

I got to visit it before Christmas last year and I had a great time. I even got to sit in the same seat as Spider Rico:

The food was great and my waiter sung opera. Really. As I am eating a plate of shrimp my waiter rings a bell and starts belting one out.

Victor Cafe is located at: 1303 Dickinson St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19147

The house from The Stupids

The Stupids is about the silliest film I have ever seen. But I like it.Any film with a cameo from Captain Kangaroo can't be all bad.

On the Wikipedia page it mentions the location of the house:

Here is how the house looks in the film:

Checking out Google Earth proves Wikipedia correct. There is the house with its fancy wood trim and weather vane over the garage. It's clearly the cutest house on the block.

I am concerned by the dumpster in the driveway. I can imagine some pieces of movie history may be in that bin.

I don't know if the interiors of the house were used, but the pool was. Here is the Google Earth picture:

Here is a shot from the film where you can see the CGI cat that The Stupids owned:

The Stupids' house is located at 55 Quaker Village Drive, Uxbridge, Ontario.
